What
does the False Alarm Analysis Program (FAAP) do?
The Central Station Alarm Association
and its members, in cooperation with the law enforcement community, have
developed a software program known as the "False Alarm Analysis Program"
(FAAP).

Basic
Instructions To Install FAAP
(if you have no other versions
installed)
-
You
MUST register your software on the same day that
you are installing it. The password that you will receive is
only good for that day!
If you have not registered it yet, click
here to register your copy of the False Alarm Analysis
Program (FAAP).
If web access is unavailable, call CSAA to register at 703-242-4670.
-
Print
the page with the password that our Web site returns and keep it in
a safe place.
-
Insert CD
in the CD drive.
-
Click on the Windows START
button at the bottom of the screen
-
Click on RUN
-
On the RUN text box, type
in:
CD-ROM drive letter:\Setup
Example:
D:\Setup, if CD is on the D Drive
E:\Setup, if CD is on the E Drive
-
Read and accept several
sequential screens to get to the "Choose Destination Location".
-
If the defaulted "Destination
Folder" address of "C:\PROGRAM FILES\FAAP" is acceptable,
click on "NEXT". (In most cases you will
use the default location.)
-
A window appears with the
defaulted program group defined as "FAAP". If "FAAP"
is acceptable, click on the "NEXT" button.
(In most cases you will use the defaulted "FAAP".)
-
The next window is self-explanatory,
again click on the "NEXT" button.
-
A progress screen indicates
progress as FAAP is installed.
-
When loading is complete,
click on the "FINISH" button.
-
You
may need to restart FAAP now from your hard drive (or wherever you
installed the program.) Click on the START button at the bottom
of your screen. Look for "Programs", then "FAAP"
directory. Click on "FAAP" to start the program.
-
A
screen ("Welcome to FAAP") will appear that asks for your
Login Name and Password. Don't key anything yet!
-
Click
on the "Register"
button that is at the bottom of that screen.

Another
screen ("FAAP Registration") comes up asking for the Registration
Name.
You should key your jurisdiction name exactly like you
typed it on Step 1 ("Register your Software") above--CAUTION:
This includes capitalization, spaces, punctuation, etc. .

The
Registration Number is that long string of numbers that you
received from our Web site ("password").
REMEMBER:
The CSAA Web site registration must be done on the
same day you enter the registration number in your version of FAAP.

Hit
OK.
-
This
will put you on the "Welcome to FAAP" screen again.

Enter
the word "admin" (in lower case and no quotes) in
the Login
Name box.
-
Enter
"password"
(in lower case and no quotes) in the Password box.
-
You are now in FAAP. You
are ready to go!
-
Proceed to follow the "SETUP"
routine outlined in the FAAP manual.

To
access the complete 150 page-plus manual (which is
a MS Word or Corel Word Perfect document) on the operation of FAAP,
print it here or click
on the folder labeled "manual" in the CD and then double
click on the resulting "FAAP help manual.rtf". The one in
our Web site will always be the most up-to-date.

For additional information
on installing FAAP, click on the icon labeled 'loading FAAP
txt", which displays a "read me" instruction.
To
Convert Version 1 FAAP
(BETA 28 to 33)

Insert CD

Click on START
then PROGRAMS
-
From the FAAP Program group,
double click on FILE
IMPORT.
This will bring up a window labeled "FAAP
(V1) IMPORT".
-
The top text box (original
database directory) displays the default directory location of Version
1 FAAP if you didn't change it.
If you did change the location of Version 1 FAAP, that directory location
name must be entered.
-
The lower text box labeled
"TEMPORARY DATA FILE" displays a default
file name for a file to be created and imported into new FAAP.
Most users will use the default "TEMPORARY FILE"
directory location.
If the default is acceptable, click on the "EXPORT"
button.
Note: If an error box appears, refer to the ISAM support section of this file and once this section is completed continue
on from here. (FAAP V1 import)

If no error, or if the process
outlined in the paradox support section has been completed, continue
as follows:

Now sign on into the new FAAP
-
Click on "MAINTENANCE"
on the FAAP TOOL Bar
-
Click on "Import
data from file"
-
Click on "Standard
Import"
-
Click on "DISK
FILE"
-
If the "FAAP
EXPORT" defaults were selected, then in lower left box,
click on C:\.
-
In the right section of the
window, select the file you created during the FAAP
IMPORT/EXPORT PROGRAM (Default Faap.tmp).
Make sure "Crushed Data" is NOT selected.
-
Click on the "IMPORT"
button. A progress bar indicates import progress.
-
When completion is indicated,
your "OLD FAAP" database will be successfully entered into
new FAAP.
-
Click on the"OK"
button, then on the "DONE" button.
This completes the OLD FAAP to NEW FAAP database conversion.

Support Section
TO ACCESS:
-
Double-click on MY
COMPUTER then your CD ROM DRIVE.

Double-click on ISAM
Support,

Double click on "DATAACC.Exe".
Display window:
-
Do you want to install Microsoft
Data Access Pack? Answer: "YES".
-
Next screen, when read, requires
you to click on the "CONTINUE" button.
-
The resulting "Microsoft
Data Access Pack Setup" screen displays a default location for
the "FOLDER" location. If acceptable, click on the "OK"
button.
-
Next screen simply requires
you to click on the large button labeled "COMPLETE/CUSTOM
INSTALL".
-
On the resulting screen, click
on the "CONTINUE" button.
You may get an error message requiring you to click on the "OK"
button.
This is O.K.
-
This process will have enabled
the "FILE IMPORT PROGRAM" to work.

Click

and continue.
Print
New Manual (with screens)
Please click on the links below to download the updated manual.
IMPORTANT:
Click "cancel" when the asked for user name and password. The
Word document will open after you hit cancel.

To
print the CD's FAAP Manual
If a printed manual is desired, one
can be printed (about 130 pages) by accessing the FAAP CD. Do this by
clicking on the "MY COMPUTER" icon on the desktop, then double
clicking on the CD ROM drive icon, then double clicking on "MANUAL"
then double clicking on "FAAP HELP MANUAL.RTF".
Your word processing program will
automatically be started and will load the 150 MB FAAP manual.
The manual appears once it is loaded
and can be printed the same as any other document from your word processor.
Note: Be sure your
printer has enough paper to handle 150 + pages. The manual is in color
and can printed on a color printer if so desired.
