Forms must be received by midnight on Wednesday, August 5th to qualify for early bird prices.  Forms received by that date without payment, or forms received after that date will be charged the Regular Registration Rate.  Save $150 per person and register today!

Fun Facts about Greece

  • If you are invited to a Greek home, arriving 30 minutes late is considered punctual.
  • The first modern Olympic Games were held in Athens, in the year 1896.  In 2004, Athens again played host to the Olympic Games.
  • The evidence of the first settlement around the Acropolis dates back to 3000 BC.
  • When dining in Greece soaking up gravy or sauce from your plate with a piece of bread is considered good table manners.
  • The greatest treasure displayed in the Parthenon was the gigantic statue of Athena designed by Phidias and made out of chryselephantine (elephant ivory) and gold.
  • In general, Greeks exchange gifts with family and friends for “name days” (birth date of the saint after whom they are named) and Christmas. Celebrating “name days” is more likely than celebrating birthdays.
